Qld: Government phone audit targets opposition office
At least one telephone line in the Queensland opposition offices in parliament house
has been disconnected -- because the government is refusing the pay the bills.
The phone number for Opposition Leader ROB BORBIDGE'S senior media adviser has been
cut off as part of a government audit of their telephone network.
A recorded message tells callers to contact the Department of Communications to confirm
the validity of the disconnection, and to contact Telstra to arrange reconnection.
Bureaucrats in the Department of Communications say the audit concluded about a month ago.
And a public servant says the only phones disconnected are those for which the overseeing
department refuse to pay.
